ATLANTA AREA ROTARY CLUB ANNOUNCES IT IS NOW RECEIVING APPLICATIONS FOR ITS 2009 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Seniors and last year’s scholarship winners from Atlanta, Queen City, Bloomburg, McLeod and Linden-Kildare High Schools are invited to pick up application packets at Horne Enterprises or from their individual student counselors at their high school.  All applicants must use the Club’s official packet.  All applications must be completed and returned to:

Atlanta Area Rotary Club

PO Box 1050

Atlanta, Texas 75551

 or delivered in person to:

Horne Enterprises

101 E. Pinecrest Drive

Atlanta, Texas 75551

Deadline April 30, 2009.  The packet contains a complete list of scholarship guidelines, scholarship form and scholarship grade sheet which will be used to award scholarships.

Rotary began over 100 years ago when a young lawyer organized a club which banned together representative business and professional persons where the members recapture the friendliness, concern and understanding of the small town life they had known as youngsters.  The Rotary custom is to know each other on a first name basis.

Rotary is not an organization of heroes.  It is composed of men and women who choose to serve for the privilege of doing so rather than for personal accolades.  Thus, Rotary is a service club which recognizes service is based on knowledge and the practical ethical principal that “He profits most who serves best.”

Cass Countians interested in making greater differences in the workplace, family and community are encouraged to contact any Rotarian or Club Representative, Jim Horne, phone (903) 796-4107 or email at horne50@aol.com.
